On April 17th, 2023 at approximately 8:30 PM, a two-vehicle accident occurred on I35 Northbound at milepost 217.6 in Johnson County, Kansas just .2 miles South of Santa Fe St. The accident involved a 2012 Cadillac SRX, driven by Emily Cathryn Pinder, and a 2018 Toyota Camry, driven by Esther Mutindi Mueni.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol Report, the Cadillac was traveling in the fourth lane while the Toyota was in the second lane, both heading northbound on I35. The Cadillac driver made an evasive action to avoid hitting another vehicle, causing her to hit the right guardrail. She then overcorrected and hit the Toyota, causing both vehicles to collide. The Cadillac then struck the left barrier wall.
The accident resulted in both drivers being taken to the Overland Park Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries.
