Four Injured in Three-Car Collision on Eastbound I-70 at Mile Marker 18
On April 6th, 2023, at around 6:00 PM, a three-car accident occurred on Eastbound I-70 at mile marker 18 in Jackson County, Missouri. The accident involved James M Breshears, 32, driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, Alex L Longacre, 41, driving a 2006 Mazda 5, and Stephanie J Grote, 28, driving a 2020 Hyundai Tuscon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Breshears and Longacre came to a stop in the left lane due to traffic congestion. Grote, who was traveling behind them, failed to notice the stopped vehicles and struck the rear of Longacre’s Mazda 5, pushing it into the Chevrolet Malibu.
The collision resulted in minor injuries to four people. Breshears, the driver of the Chevrolet Malibu, was transported to Centerpoint by Central Jackson County Fire Department. Longacre, the driver of the Mazda 5, and one of his passengers, a 5-year-old female, were both transported to University Health Truman. The other passenger in the Mazda 5, Erik C Stewart, 56, was transported to Centerpoint.
The damage to Breshears’ Chevrolet Malibu and Longacre’s Mazda 5 was severe enough that both were towed away. However, Grote was able to drive her vehicle from the scene, as the damage was minor.
